Midnight Places

Your midnight words of silk and lace
I know they came from that special place
Where late at night your thoughts do stray
Try as you might, they won't go away

Forged from need and feelings wanted
With eyes closed tight your mind is haunted
Reaching for that which really isn't there
You must try again, or do you dare

Hours of night crawl past ever slow
The embers of passion burn hot and glow
A breeze through your hair, a slight cooling down
While sweat still trickles beneath your gown

You seek relief in pause of your touch
Imagining others you wanted so much
All too soon your lust is heightened
And when it’s over, so sad and frightened

Afraid of the day and what you might see
It’s only at night you feel really free
For there in your dreams and fantasies hidden
You search for yourself amongst the forbidden

Alone you’re not, for others are there
Waiting and wanting, your passions they share
Yet you send them away as your mind ever traces
And you try to hide from your midnight places.
